Methods

Hurricane patterns from 1850 to the present were collected from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Office for Coastal Management. The independent variable used for much of the analysis was the time frame in which the data was described. The broadest time frame used was the entire span of 170 years from 1850 to the present day. Smaller, decade to decade time frames were used to examine how hurricane patterns can oscillate over time. The most significant dependent variable was the quantity of hurricanes observed over the multiple time frames.

Data Analysis

Microsoft Excel Version 2110 was used to gather descriptive statistics on hurricanes during the time period examined, perform regression analyses, and create tables and graphs. Google Earth Pro Version 7.3.4 was used to visualize the results in relation to the Earth and Qgis Version 3.20.3 was used to frame the results in a comprehensive manner.
